Collaboration with ZAMISE

The African Albinism Foundation works together with ZAMISE (Zambia Institute of Special Education), a teacher training for special education in Lusaka, Zambia. Students follow a 2 year training for special education to be able to teach children with visual, auditory, mentalĀ  or physical limitations at primary and secondary levels. (in total 32 schools or units). The cooperation with ZAMISE was in part facilitated by the volunteer Nicole Faithfull, who lived in Zambia for two years and got in touch with the foundation.

Distribution and educative information
At the end of 2008 the first shipment of sun lotion left for ZAMISE. The transport from the Netherlands is carried out via DPA (Development Project Assistance). The sun lotion arrives in Zambia at the organisation CHAZ in Lusaka. The African Albinism Foundation is in direct contact with the localĀ  contact person Mr. Lawrence Mumba, teacher and also head of the department for visually limited children at ZAMISE. He collects the shipment and the resources are distributed to the 32 schools/units in Zambia via ZAMISE. The distribution of sun lotion and the educative information are linked to the distribution of the teaching and school materials done by ZAMISE in Zambia.
